Associate Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Calabria, Physics Department. His main research activities concern the Raman and IR spectroscopies in Materials Science and as diagnostic tool in the Cultural Heritage, Sol Gel synthesis for thin films and sub-micrometer particles, Electrochromic materials and display, Piezoelectric materials (in particular PZT), Liquid Crystal materials, Polymeric materials, Graphene and Carbon Nanotubes.
Teaching activities at the University of Calabria concern the: “Raman spectroscopy” for PhD students and “Laboratory of Diagnostic Physic”, “Physic methods and Laboratory of Diagnostic Physic”, “Optical and electronic spectroscopies”, “Molecular Spectroscopy” and “Physics” for graduation students.
Relevant has been the activity made in the framework of the technology transfer. He, together with others researchers and professors, founded a start-up company called NOTREDAME Srl, hosted at the business incubator of the University of Calabria. Several acknowledgements have been obtained, in the context of the technological transfer activity carried out, including the attention given to him by prestigious magazines such as: “Le Scienze”, “Panorama” and “Il Sole 24 ore”. He won the “Brain in Motion” award and the ceremony of which took place in Los Angeles in the presence of members of the Tech Cost Angels.
He is referee of prestigious international journals such as: Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Materials Chemistry, The Journal of Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics Letters, Journal of Sol Gel Science and Technology, and others.
He is the author of over 60 publications on international journals surveyed by the ISI, a patent and over 60 communications at conferences.
In 2021, he has been external reviewer for the evaluation of the products of the 2015-19 VQR in the ANVUR activity that evaluates the quality of the outcomes of the research of the universities and research institutes.
