My research interests focus on bio-soft matter and nanomaterials. I apply physical techniques: laser light scattering (visible, UV), calorimetry, Neutron, and X-ray techniques to study the structural organization and dynamics of biomimetic colloids on different length-scales, from the mesoscale (hundreds of nm) to the very local scale (tenths of nm).
Main topics: structural and thermotropic properties of lipid membranes, structure of stimuli-responsive nanoparticles for drug delivery and controlled release, properties of biopolymer-based scaffolds, self-aggregation of peptides and proteins (amyloids), interaction of peptides and polymers with model membranes.
Teaching activities at Università di Milano: Medical physics, to master students – Medicine and surgery; Applied physics, to bachelor students – Imaging and Radiotherapy Techniques, Audiometric Techniques; Applied physics and Radiation physics to specialization school students – Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Ophthalmology
